Why I Chose The Trevor Project: A Cause Close to My Heart

As many of you know, June is Pride Month, and at The Celebratory Collection, I wanted to do more than create Pride merchandise—I wanted to give back to a cause that truly makes a difference. That's why I decided that $1 from every Pride item sold will be donated to The Trevor Project.

What Is The Trevor Project?

The Trevor Project is the leading nonprofit organization focused on suicide prevention and crisis intervention for LGBTQ+ young people. Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award-winning short film Trevor, the organization was created after recognizing the need for support services for LGBTQ+ youth who were struggling with depression, bullying, isolation, and suicidal thoughts.

Today, The Trevor Project provides:

  • 24/7 crisis counseling through phone, text, and chat
  • Mental health resources for LGBTQ+ youth
  • Research on LGBTQ+ youth mental health
  • Advocacy for safer and more inclusive communities
  • TrevorSpace, an online community where LGBTQ+ youth can connect and find support

Their mission is simple but powerful: to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people.

Why This Matters

Mental health is something I care deeply about.

Many of you have followed my own healing journey. I've shared my experiences with trauma, depression, therapy, and learning how to celebrate myself after years of not feeling worthy enough to do so. Healing isn't easy, and no one should have to go through it alone.

The Trevor Project reminds me of something I strongly believe:

Everyone deserves to feel seen. Everyone deserves support. Everyone deserves to know that their life matters.

For LGBTQ+ youth, having even one supportive person in their life can make a huge difference. The Trevor Project works every day to be that support when someone feels alone, scared, or hopeless.

Why I Chose Them

As a proud bisexual woman and the founder of The Celebratory Collection, Pride Month is personal to me.

My brand was built on the idea that people should celebrate themselves—not just on birthdays or major milestones, but every single day. Whether you're healing, growing, discovering who you are, or simply trying to make it through a difficult season, you deserve to be celebrated.

Supporting The Trevor Project felt like a natural extension of that mission.

When you purchase a Pride item from The Celebratory Collection, you're not just buying a product. You're helping support an organization that provides life-saving resources, hope, and community to young people who may need it most.

A Small Purchase Can Make a Big Difference

This Pride Month, every Pride item sold helps support a cause that aligns with everything The Celebratory Collection stands for:

🌈 Love
πŸ’œ Acceptance
✨ Healing
πŸŽ‰ Celebration
🀝 Community

Thank you for supporting my small business and helping me give back.

Together, let's celebrate Pride, celebrate ourselves, and help remind someone that they are never alone.

With love,

Zitaqwa Muhammad
Founder, The Celebratory Collection

🌈 $1 from every Pride item sold will be donated to The Trevor Project throughout Pride Month. πŸ’œ

Meet the Heart Behind The Celebratory Collection πŸ’œ✨

Hi, I'm Zitaqwa Muhammad , founder of The Celebratory Collection . If you're here, I want you to know something right away: You are worth celebrating. That simple belief is the reason this brand exists. My Story For much of my life, I struggled to celebrate myself. Like many people, I carried pain, trauma, self-doubt, and experiences that made it difficult to see my own worth. I spent years focusing on surviving instead of celebrating. I often put everyone else first and rarely stop to recognize my own growth, strength, or accomplishments. Over time, I began a healing journey that changed my life. Healing wasn't easy. Some days were beautiful. Some days were messy. Some days I wanted to quit. But every step forward taught me something important: every part of the journey deserves recognition—not just the finish line. That lesson became the foundation for everything I create. Why I Started The Celebratory Collection The Celebratory Collection wasn't created just to sel...

Healing Doesn't Have to Look the Same for Everyone

One of the biggest lessons I've learned on my healing journey is that keeping everything inside was hurting me far more than talking about it. For years, I carried the pain of my abuse in silence. I thought if I didn't talk about it, maybe it would go away. Instead, it became heavier. Through therapy and sharing my story, I discovered something powerful: speaking about my feelings helped me begin to release them. Every time I talked about my experiences, I felt a little less alone and a little more free. Another thing I've learned is that healing isn't one-size-fits-all. For a long time, I thought journaling meant sitting down every single day and filling pages. When I couldn't keep up with that, I felt like I was failing. But the truth is, journaling doesn't have to be a daily task or another item on your to-do list. It doesn't have to feel like a chore. Journal when you need to. Journal when you have something to say. Journal when your heart feels heavy....

A Milestone in My Healing Journey

To anyone on their journey: ♡ Healing isn't about being perfect. It's about being brave enough to start, honest enough to go deeper, and strong enough to keep choosing YOU. Keep going. You're worth it. ♡ This blog is going to be a little more personal and vulnerable than my usual posts, but I think it's important to share. Over the past several months, I have been participating in both a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and later an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) as part of my mental health healing journey. When I first started PHP, I was nervous, anxious, and honestly not looking forward to sitting in a room full of strangers. I was convinced I wouldn't talk much and had no idea what to expect. What I found instead was one of the most important experiences of my life. Through PHP and IOP, I have come a long way. I met some truly amazing people who reminded me that I wasn't alone. Even though our stories were different, many of us shared the ...
